Organic Farming – turning back the clock

Organic Farming – turning back the clock

With the changing technology, people thought that what is new are the right one for us. We must be careful.

Did you know that half a century or so ago, all foods were organic? They were grown naturally without pesticides and chemical fertilizers
and most were minimally processed. Our meats came from animals that grazed in green pastures or roamed freely on farms.

The food in our stores today is not the same as the food in the stores when we were children. Chemical pesticides and fertilizers are
routinely used on crops to ensure higher yields. Animals are confined, given hormones and antibiotics, and feed un-natural diets so they
grow faster and make it to market sooner. These farming practices have lead to the depletion of nutrients and minerals in our food, as well
as an increase in chemicals taken into our bodies.

Our immune systems must work extra hard to remove pesticides from our bodies. Eventually, some of the chemicals from pesticides—which have
been shown to cause cancer as well as liver, blood and kidney disease—build up in our tissues and weaken our immune system. Additionally,
eating nutrient deficient foods fails to provide our bodies with the vitamins and minerals they require, further weakening our immune systems.
When our immune systems are weakened too much, pathogens and carcinogens are more able to take hold in our body and wreak havoc on our health.

To transition to organic foods, start by purchasing just one organic food the first week. Then, add one more each week you shop. This method
allows you to slowly increase your food budget and make adjustments elsewhere as you go. Purchase these five fruits and vegetables organic first,
as they've been shown to carry the most pesticide residue: peaches, apples, sweet bell peppers, celery and nectarines.

Keep this in mind too… you pay for your health one way or the other—either up-front by purchasing high-quality foods or in the rears with doctor
office vists and prescription medications!
